Conference Platform: Gather
We will be using the platform Gather to host our McGill Applied Psychology Conference 2021 virtually.
This platform allows us to create an “online space” that simulates the experience of attending a conference in person. This online space will consist of rooms such as a lounge room, a keynote speaker room, a poster presentation room, an oral presentation room, and so on.
Each participant in the conference will choose their own “avatar” with which they will be able to walk through this virtual space to interact with others through video chat; attend various presentations and talks; and interact with objects (e.g., drawing on whiteboards, reading messages on message boards).
Although this platform is very user-friendly, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the virtual platform before attending the conference. On the day of the conference, a facilitator will be present in each room to help assist you with any issues that may arise.
